Visiting times

Parents, brothers and sisters.

We operate an open visiting policy for parents and siblings. No other children are allowed.

Handover times

At nursing handover times (7.15 - 7.30, 13.15 - 13.45 and 19.15 - 19.45) the nursery is busy and information is being shared amongst staff. To allow staff time to exchange information about all the babies as privately as possible, it is asked that parents leave or do not enter the nursery at these times.

Ward rounds

Each day there is a ward round by the Consultant this takes place in Intensive care at 09.00 and in High dependency at 11am. You are welcome to attend but we ask that parents wait outside the room until the round reaches your baby to avoid breaches of confidentiality.

Quiet time

Quiet Time is 12.00-14.00 hours, this is a dedicated quiet time when lights are lowered and babies are left undisturbed to allow babies to sleep to promote growth and development.

Other visitors

Grandparents can visit at 14.30-15.30 and 18.00-19.00. There should be no more than two at the cot at one time and one of them should be a parent.

If baby has no Grandparents four other family members can be identified as named visitors.

In circumstances when you are unable to visit special arrangements can be made (contact the unit to discuss this).
