Keeping babies warm
Incubators, cosy-cots with overhead heaters, kan-med beds and heated gel
mattresses allow babies to be kept warm. Incubators are used most often for
premature babies and when babies need to be closely watched and monitored.
Kan-med beds, with mattresses filled with warm water, are sometimes used in small
babies when they are
being transferred from incubators to cots. Heated gel mattresses are used for larger babies.
