Infant massage

Massage helps babies to release tension, sleep longer and deeper, and possibly boost their ability to fight infection. Massage can also help parents get to know their baby better and to increase their confidence. Whilst a baby is in hospital, parents can learn about massage from one of the nurses who is a qualified instructor - it is advised that massage does not take place until a baby is stable and in a cot. There are also massage courses held at 'Simpsons' for parents whose baby's have been discharged from the hospital.

If parents are interested in learning how to massage their baby, information can be obtained from the nursing staff.
