When you arrive to visit

For the safety of babies, the neonatal unit is a secure area. This means that entry is permitted only to parents and visitors, once they have identified themselves using the intercom system, and to those members of staff who have a valid ID badge. To use the intercom system, parents and visitors must press the buzzer on the right hand side of the main doors of the unit. The caller can be seen on a screen at the main reception desk within the unit and will be asked to identify them self and the baby they are visiting. Receptionists and clinical staff answer the entry buzzer; if the unit is busy, there may be some delay in answering. This can be frustrating but please be patient and remember that the buzzer system is in place for the safety of the babies.

Before entering the nurseries remove outdoor coats and place them on the coat hooks outside each nursery. The unit is unable to accept responsibility for lost or stolen personal effects so, please never leave any valuables unattended.

Space around the incubators and cots is limited; therefore only 3 visitors, including parents, will be permitted to see the baby at the same time. Please do not bring food or hot drinks into the nursery. Seating is provided in the reception area for parents and visitors for this purpose. Iced drinking water is available in the nurseries for parents and visitors.
