Umbilicus

The umbilicus or belly button is the remains of the cord that connected baby to the placenta.

Umbilical arterial line (UAC)

This is a soft plastic tube, which is inserted into the artery of the umbilical cord of a baby. The UAC is used to monitor blood pressure and also to take blood samples without the need to use needles.

Umbilical venous line(UVC)

This is a soft plastic tube, which is inserted into the vein of the umbilical cord of a baby. The UVC is used to give fluid and drugs to a baby.
