Term
A term baby is a baby born after 37 completed weeks' gestation and before 42 completed weeks of
pregnancy.
Temperature monitoring:
In sick babies, 2 temperatures are often measured - the central
temperature and the peripheral temperature. A temperature probe is placed under
baby's body to record the central temperature and another is attached to baby's
foot to measure peripheral temperature. This is often referred to as toe-core
temperature monitoring. The way the 2 temperatures change gives a lot of
information about how well as baby is.
